Trinity Benedictine Monastery
TRINITY BENEDICTINE MONASTERY
Trinity Benedictine Monastery in Fujimi, Japan, is a dependent priory of Saint John’s. For over sixty years, this monastery has stood as a symbol of faith in a country where Catholics are one-half of one percent of the total population. The ministry of the monks includes the guest apostolate; service in regional parishes; nursing home chaplaincy; providing a resident priest for the Trappist sisters of Nasu; and offering spiritual direction, pastoral conferences, and retreats to the Christian community of Japan.
Being a member of the Saint John’s community for eight years [during my studies] and witnessing the daily lives of the monastic community instilled in me the Benedictine values of prayer, respect, and hard work. I feel very fortunate and grateful for my time at Saint John’s.
